Dine Out and Vote!

Here’s your chance to nominate your favorite burger, pizza, cocktail and more in Orange County! The Golden Foodie Awards kicks off its inaugural month long Golden Dine Out, Sunday that invites foodies to vote for their favorite food categories weekly at [url=http://www.goldenfoodieawards.com]http://www.goldenfoodieawards.com[/url]. Voting  categories for  (August 5 to 11) includes Best American Cuisine, Best Beer Menu, Best Cocktail, Best Mexican Food, Best Pizza, and Best Vegetarian Cuisine.

At the end of each week, the top three nominees will be announced online to Golden Foodie Award members via email and on the Golden Foodie Awards Facebook page. The entire list of voting categories can be found here.

The winners of each Golden Dine Out category will be revealed at the 2012 Golden Foodie Awards gala on Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. Guests can enjoy culinary stations featuring an array of food and cocktails from more than 15 restaurants and premium brands, specialty desserts and wine, as well as live music and entertainment. Stay for an after party featuring a DJ, cocktails, coffee bar and red carpet interviews. A limited amount of advance tickets are available for $150 online. On August 11, ticket prices will increase to $250.

 

Sweet Summer Clothes

During tonight’s First Thursdays Art Walk, Laguna Supply in Laguna Beach will be featuring the highly anticipated ready-to-wear line, Summer of Seventy Eight by Summer Rapp.  Costa Mesa based Summer Rapp has an extensive background in the surfwear industry and this is her debut contemporary women’s collection for Fall 2012.

Summer of Seventy Eight features casual chic pieces and sophisticated fashions with an edge that include maxi skirts, wrap skirts, woven tanks, woven tops, muscle tee’s, leather jackets in daring cuts with bold prints and texture. Haircuts, Burgers, Charity!

One of Orange County’s hottest salons, Shanghai Salon in Costa Mesa will be hosting the first annual Newport Harbor High School cut-a-thon fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 16. Normally the salon is closed on Sunday, but Konner Speth, the 2012-2013 ASB President, is spearheading the event  to raise funds for Newport Harbor's ASB. At the cut-a-thon there will be a live local band, a TK Burger truck, and raffle to win gift cards at local restaurants. All proceeds will be going back to Newport Harbor's ASB as well as a percentage of top hair products like Davines, Kerastase and O&M.

You can make an appointment now, and cuts will be discounted on Sunday, Sept. 16. To kick off the fundraiser, today at 5 p.m. at Shanghai Salon, Tala Teaupa,  one of Newport Harbor High school's star football players, will be cutting off his trademark long hair that goes almost down to his hips and donating it to Locks of Love.
